MAT – Medication Assisted Treatment

Georgia Highlands Medical Services now offers Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services at our Cumming Family Health Center location. MAT is an evidence-based treatment with a multi-disciplinary team to treat opioid use disorders with medications, counseling, and case management services. This approach consists of having a medical provider to address any medical concerns and prescribe suboxone; a behavioral health provider to provide support, skills, and counseling; and a case manager to assist with any social determinants of health to assist patients in maintaining their sobriety. This program is only available for patients with opioid use who are medically stable or have gone through detoxification program.
