Since 2020, Georgia Highlands, in all its offices, has developed the appropriate processes and protocols to keep patients and staff safe and well. This includes “isolation sick care suites” with separate entrances and complete separation from the other “well” portions of its facilities. This has included modifications such as isolating the HVAC airflow; sealing off hallways; IT enhancements/modifications; addition of PPE Ante-Room and other enhancements. Whether it’s COVID-19 or the Flu, we believe that keeping those who have symptoms of a contagious illness separate from those who do not (especially those with chronic conditions and others who are most vulnerable) is the right thing to do.

As part of ensuring access to those with respiratory illnesses, Georgia Highlands has also developed Walk-In Express Care at some of its locations. Please call the office in your community to see if is available.

ER and Express Care Centers are positioned to handle various medical problems, but choosing the right location can help you better understand your healthcare needs. If you have a health concern that requires immediate attention but is not life-threatening, EXPRESS CARE is the right place to go. Serious injuries or severe illness that may require hospitalization should be directed to your local ER. For any life-threatening emergency, call 911. Below are some conditions that can help you identify whether you should go to Express Care or the ER.
